Wheel bearing broken after 10 days by: Eddie Carrara
Hi Katy, Who ever the mechanic was that installed the bearing, obviously did something wrong. I recommend bringing it back to the shop and have them replace it again at no charge. Some wheel bearings will last the life of the car, but not all. As I wrote in my article, wheel bearings fail because of either damage, a broke seal, or poor installation, and it sounds like your's is caused by poor installation. As long as you didn't hit anything like a curb or a huge pothole, the bearing should not have failed this quickly, my guess is the the mechanic left the axle nut loose and ruined the bearing. Let me know what happens Katy, thanks.
